High Density Silicone Ink for Raised Garment Logos and 3D Textile Branding
A printed logo does not always need to remain flat.
High density silicone ink allows garment manufacturers to build physical height into lettering, logos and decorative graphics, creating a three-dimensional surface that can be both seen and touched.
Typical applications include:
T-shirts
Hoodies
Sweatshirts
Pants
Sportswear
Fashion garments
Branded textile products
The same printing system can be adjusted to create transparent, colored, glossy, matte or other decorative effects.
For product specifications and available models, see High Density Silicone Ink for Textile Screen Printing.
How a Raised Garment Logo Is Built
A typical high-density structure is created layer by layer:
Garment Fabric
→ Base Printing
→ High Density Silicone Layers
→ Color Layer
→ Surface Effect
→ Final Cure
The first one or two base layers help establish adhesion and a stable foundation.
Transparent or colored high density silicone is then repeatedly printed until the required height is reached.
Each layer should be flash-dried before the next printing pass.
Choosing the Main Silicone
Three high-density systems can be considered:
XG-866AH
A high-transparency heat-curing silicone suitable for manual and machine high-build printing.
XG-866A
A heat-curing silicone for clear or colored high-density printing.
XG-20Z-1
A self-drying option for high-build processes requiring a different curing workflow.
For a detailed comparison, read XG-866AH vs XG-866A vs XG-20Z-1.
Logo Design Options
High density silicone can be used to create:
Raised wordmarks
Brand initials
Small logo symbols
Thick lettering
Geometric graphics
Multicolor 3D patterns
Transparent dimensional details
The final result is influenced by both material and artwork.
A wide block logo may be easier to build than extremely fine lettering at the same height.
For designs requiring sharp dimensional edges, see How to Keep Sharp Edges in High Density Silicone Printing.
Glossy Raised Logos
A glossy top layer can be added after the high-density structure has been completed.
For the heat-curing system, XG-399-3 can be used to create a glossy effect.
A glossy surface can emphasize:
Height
Edge shape
Color contrast
Smooth surface appearance
It can be considered for fashion branding, decorative logos and designs requiring stronger visual shine.
Matte Raised Logos
For a less reflective surface, a matte top layer can be used.
XG-866M-6+ is available for heat-curing applications.
Matte raised designs can be considered for:
Sportswear
Minimalist garment branding
Technical-style graphics
Tone-on-tone logos
Fashion details
The choice between matte and glossy should be based on the desired appearance rather than treating one finish as universally better.
Colored and Transparent 3D Effects
Compatible pigment paste can be mixed with the silicone to create colored high-build structures.
Available pigment options include white, black, red, yellow and blue.
Transparent high-density layers can also be used where the dimensional structure itself is the main design feature.
This makes it possible to develop combinations such as:
Transparent base + colored top
Colored high density + glossy top
Colored high density + matte top
Multicolor raised graphic + decorative finish
Polyester Garments Require Additional Evaluation
When printing light-colored logos on strongly dyed polyester garments, color migration may need to be evaluated separately.
In these cases, read How to Prevent Dye Migration in High Density Silicone Printing on Polyester.
Test the Actual Garment
Before mass production, evaluate:
Fabric composition
Fabric stretch
Surface treatment
Required printing height
Logo geometry
Base adhesion
Number of printing passes
Surface finish
Final curing
Final garment use
Whenever possible, perform testing on the actual production garment fabric rather than only a generic fabric swatch.
If you are developing a raised garment logo, send us your fabric, artwork, required height, color and surface effect for sample evaluation.
