Clear Matte Silicone Top Coat for Textile Screen Printing

Clear Matte Silicone Top Coat is specially developed for creating smooth, transparent and non-reflective surface finishes on textile silicone prints. It is normally applied as the final coating layer over high-density, colored, rounded or anti-slip silicone patterns.

The product produces a clean matte appearance while retaining the flexibility, elasticity and dimensional details of the underlying silicone print. It is suitable for garments, pants, socks, gloves, webbing, elastic bands and other compatible textile products.

Available models include:

XG-866M / XG-866M-6+ / XG-866M-6Y / XG-136M-1 / XG-866M-6

Different models are available for heat-curing and self-drying production systems.

Heat-Cure Matte Silicone System

The heat-cure series is recommended for printing workshops equipped with platen dryers, flash-curing machines or ovens.

Main Materials

Component Product Model Recommended Addition
Matte Silicone XG-866M / XG-866M-6+ / XG-866M-6Y Main material
Catalyst XG-866B-2 2–3%

Mixing Instructions

Weigh the matte silicone accurately.

Add 2–3% XG-866B-2 catalyst.

Mix thoroughly until the catalyst is completely dispersed.

Avoid introducing excessive air during mixing.

Use the prepared material within its recommended working time.

The catalyst dosage may be adjusted within the recommended range according to the workshop temperature, printing speed and required drying rate. Excess catalyst may shorten the working time, while insufficient catalyst may result in incomplete curing.

Self-Drying Matte Silicone System

The self-drying series is suitable for workshops without continuous heating equipment and for applications that require room-temperature curing.

Main Materials

Component Product Model Recommended Addition
Matte Silicone XG-136M-1 / XG-866M-6 Main material
Fast-Drying Catalyst XG-MB-1 10%
Medium-Drying Catalyst XG-ZB-1 10%
Slow-Drying Catalyst XG-KB-1 10%
Extra-Slow-Drying Catalyst XG-TMB-1 10%

Select the catalyst according to the required printing speed, workshop temperature and operating time. Mix the matte silicone and catalyst at approximately 10:1 by weight.

For XG-866M-6, confirm the selected catalyst and curing method before production, as different application configurations may require different additive systems.

Textile Screen Printing Process

Clear Matte Silicone Top Coat is normally applied as the final surface layer.

Step 1: Substrate Preparation

Make sure the fabric and previously printed silicone layers are clean, dry and free from dust, oil or release agents.

For nylon, polyester, waterproof fabric or other difficult substrates, a suitable primer or cross-linking layer may be required before printing the main silicone structure.

Step 2: Base or High-Density Printing

Print the required transparent, colored or high-density silicone layers according to the design.

Each layer should be flash-dried before the next layer is printed. Additional printing passes may be used to build the required height, shape or three-dimensional effect.

Step 3: Color Printing

When a colored design is required, mix the compatible silicone ink with the selected pigment paste and catalyst.

Print repeatedly until the desired color coverage and thickness are achieved. Make sure every layer is surface-dry before continuing.

Step 4: Matte Top Coating

Mix the selected matte silicone with its corresponding catalyst.

Print the matte silicone evenly over the finished silicone pattern. The matte coating must normally be the last printed layer.

For consistent coverage and a uniform non-reflective surface, print the matte top coat two times or more, depending on the design, screen mesh, coating thickness and required hand feel.

Step 5: Final Curing

After all layers have been completed, cure the printed product according to the selected silicone system.

The reference printing process similarly recommends flash-drying each layer before applying the next layer and completing final curing after the surface coating has been printed. (Huizhou Yirun Silicone Co., Ltd.)

Clear Matte Silicone Top Coat for Textile Screen Printing Times

The recommended printing frequency for the matte top coat is:

Standard matte coating: two printing passes

Higher surface coverage: two or more printing passes

Special textures or deep patterns: adjust according to the sample

Thin decorative coating: determine through production testing

The actual number of passes depends on screen mesh, stencil thickness, silicone viscosity, squeegee pressure and the surface structure of the underlying print.

Drying and Baking Requirements

Platen Dryer or Flash-Curing Machine

After each printing pass, move the printed area back and forth under the platen dryer until the surface is dry enough for the next layer.

Do not overheat the silicone between printing passes. Excessive intermediate heating may reduce interlayer adhesion.

Oven Curing

After printing is complete, place the finished product in an oven for final curing.

The exact curing temperature and time depend on:

Product model

Catalyst system

Fabric type

Printing thickness

Number of layers

Oven efficiency

Production speed

Please contact our technical team or refer to the corresponding process video and technical data sheet for the recommended temperature and curing time.

Available Printing Effects

Clear Matte Silicone Top Coat can be used to create:

Transparent matte surfaces

Full matte surfaces

Skin-feel matte finishes

Soft-touch surface effects

Smooth anti-glare coatings

Matte high-density logos

Matte three-dimensional patterns

Matte anti-slip textures

Important Processing Notes

Use the correct catalyst for the selected matte silicone model.

Measure all components by weight.

Mix thoroughly before printing.

Test adhesion before mass production.

Flash-dry every layer before printing the next layer.

Apply the matte silicone as the final coating layer.

Avoid contamination from incompatible chemicals.

Confirm curing conditions according to the fabric and printing thickness.

Conduct washing, stretching and abrasion tests before bulk production.

Refer to the latest technical data sheet when controlling viscosity, hardness, working time and curing parameters.

Clear Matte Silicone Top Coat provides a practical solution for creating soft, durable and non-reflective surfaces on textile silicone prints. With both heat-cure and self-drying systems available, manufacturers can select the appropriate product according to their equipment, production speed and required matte effect.
