Puff Effect Silicone Printing for Pants, Trousers and Stretch Garments
Pants and trousers can use silicone printing for waistband branding, side graphics, lettering and decorative details. Puff effect silicone adds a raised surface where a stronger three-dimensional appearance is required.
Because these garments bend and flex during use, the location and total print structure should be tested carefully.
For available heat-curing and self-drying puff systems, see Puff Effect Silicone Ink For Textile Screen Printing.
Typical Design Applications
Possible applications include:
• Waistband logos
• Side-leg graphics
• Brand lettering
• Decorative stripes
• Small geometric patterns
• Raised logos
• Fashion graphics
• Sports trouser branding
Typical Printing Structure
- A basic design may use:
Fabric → Puff Silicone → Dry / Stabilize → Additional Layer if Required → Final Cure
- For a colored raised design:
Fabric → Colored Puff Silicone → Dry / Stabilize → Additional Layer → Final Cure
- For fabrics with dye-migration risk:
Fabric → Anti-Sublimation Silicone → Puff Effect Silicone → Final Drying / Cure
Flexible Garments Require Complete Testing
A small waistband logo and a large side-leg graphic do not experience the same movement. Important variables include fabric elasticity, logo position, printed area, total silicone thickness, puff height and final flexibility.
Test the completed print under realistic bending, folding and stretching conditions.
Control the Number of Layers
One or two layers are the supplied starting range. Large designs or more dimensional graphics can be evaluated with additional passes if required.
For detailed process guidance, read How Many Printing Layers Are Needed for Puff Effect Silicone Ink?.
Use Color and Height Together
The puff silicone can be pigmented with white, black, red, yellow, blue or blended custom colors. This allows the 3D effect to be coordinated with the garment color and artwork.
Choose the Correct Production System
Heat-equipped production lines can evaluate XG-866ARP or XG-866CRT, while self-drying production can evaluate XG-20ARP with the corresponding additive system.
For system comparison, see Heat-Curing vs Self-Drying Puff Silicone Ink for Textile Screen Printing.
Combine Puff with Functional Layers
For certain dyed fabrics, an anti-sublimation layer can be evaluated below the puff print. XG-866D conductive silicone is also available in the heat-curing product family for specialized applications.
For related structures, see How to Combine Puff Effect Silicone with Anti-Sublimation, Conductive and Other Silicone Effects.
Before production, test the actual trouser fabric and complete printing structure under realistic handling conditions.
