Products Description
In garment decoration and functional logo production, Reverse Heat Transfer Silicone Printing is a high-performance process used to achieve strong adhesion, high opacity, and dimensional logo effects.
Unlike direct printing, reverse transfer builds the entire structure on a PET film first, then transfers it onto the fabric using heat and pressure. This method ensures cleaner edges, better thickness control, and superior bonding strength.
Below is the complete production process using our silicone system.
Process Structure Overview
Printing order on PET film:
Top Silicone Color Layer → Middle Structural Layer → Hot Melt Adhesive Layer → Oven Curing → Heat Press Transfer
Step 1: Top Silicone + Color Layer (Effect Layer)
Mixing Formula:
XG-866A-2Y
Add XG-866B-2 (2–3%)
Add XG-128AH Thinner (5–20%, adjust based on viscosity)
Add color paste (10–20%, depending on color intensity required)
Printing Method:
Print 3–4 times
Allow surface flash-dry between layers
Adjust mesh count and squeegee pressure according to desired thickness and gloss level
Function of This Layer:
Determines gloss or matte appearance
Controls color saturation
Provides surface smoothness
Creates dimensional visual effect
This is the visible top layer after transfer.
Step 2: Middle Structural Layer
Formula:
XG-360Z-3X
Add XG-866B-2 (5–10%)
Printing Times:
Print 2–3 times
Function:
Builds thickness
Enhances structural strength
Prevents hot melt penetration
Improves 3D effect
This layer acts as the structural backbone of the transfer.
Step 3: Hot Melt Adhesive Layer
Product:
XG-360R-2
Printing Times:
Print 6 times or more
Critical Note:
The hot melt adhesive must be stirred thoroughly before printing.
Because it contains hot melt powder, insufficient mixing may cause powder sedimentation, leading to:
Weak bonding areas
Peeling after pressing
Poor wash durability
This layer determines final adhesion strength to fabric.
Curing and Heat Press Conditions
Oven Curing:
Temperature: 100°C
Time: 40 minutes
Ensure full silicone curing before transfer.
Heat Press Transfer
Temperature: 150°C
Time: 15 seconds
Pressure: Medium to high pressure
Cold peel or hot peel depends on the PET release film type.
Key Features of Reverse Heat Transfer
Compared with direct screen printing, reverse transfer offers:
1. Cleaner Edges
Printing on PET film ensures sharp and smooth outlines.
2. Better Thickness Control
Multiple layers allow strong 3D effects.
3. High Opacity
Suitable for dark fabrics.
4. Smooth Surface Finish
Glossy or matte effects are more uniform.
5. Strong Adhesion
Hot melt adhesive provides durable bonding.
6. Suitable for Mass Production
Transfers can be prepared in advance and heat pressed when needed.
Suitable Applications
- T-shirts
- Hoodies
- Fleece fabric
- Sportswear
- Shoes and shoe materials
- Caps
- Socks
- Webbing
Conclusion
Reverse heat transfer silicone printing for T-shirt printing uses a three-layer structure:
Effect Layer + Structural Layer + Adhesive Layer
This system ensures strong adhesion, high durability, dimensional appearance, and clean finishing - making it ideal for premium logos and branded garment decoration.
