Four-Color Process High-Build Silicone Printing for Integrated Character Graphic with Rhinestone Application
This process demonstrates a complete four-color process silicone printing applied to an integrated artwork that includes character, shoes, and backpack as one visual image.
Four-Color Silicone Ink is a high-build silicone printing technique, where real thickness is created by repeated silicone layering rather than foaming or gloss coating.
Although the artwork is one complete image, different screens are used during printing because the shoes and backpack require special functional layers for gloss effect and rhinestone application.
Printing Logic of the Whole Image
The entire design is printed as one graphic, but the screens serve different purposes:
- One screen is used for full base and color separation
- One screen is used for high-build thickness for shoes and backpack area
- This is because after building thickness with silicone:
- Shoes area can directly receive gloss effect
- Backpack area cannot directly receive heat-melt adhesive for rhinestones
A special middle layer is required between thick silicone and heat-melt adhesive.
Step 1 – Full Base Printing for the Whole Image
Silicone Ink: XG-866CRT
Catalyst: 128AH ( 20%)
White Paste: (15%)
Printing: 1 full base pass
This prepares adhesion and a clean foundation for four-color printing.
Step 2 – Four-Color Separation Printing
Silicone Ink: XG-866CRT + 128AH (20%)
Color Pastes: Yellow, Red, Green, Black, Light Red
Printing: Each color printed once
This creates the detailed character, shoes, and backpack visual as one complete artwork.
Step 3 – High-Build Silicone Thickness for Shoes and Backpack
Adhesion Base
XG-180A + XG-180B-1 (10%) - 2 times
Thickness Build
XG-866A-6 + XG-866B-2 (3%) - 15 times
Real silicone thickness is formed here.
Step 4 – Functional Difference After Thickness
After high-build silicone is created:
Shoes area can directly apply surface gloss effect
XG-399-3 + Chameleon Powder (10%) - 1 time
XG-399-3 + XG-866B-2 (3%) - flat print + pull stroke - 1 time
Backpack area cannot directly apply heat-melt adhesive
Because heat-melt adhesive cannot bond properly onto thick silicone.
Step 5 – Middle Layer for Backpack (Critical Step)
Silicone Ink: XG-180A-1 + XG-866B-2 (3%) - 2 times
This middle silicone layer allows the next heat-melt layer to bond correctly.
Step 6 – Heat-Melt Silicone Layer for Rhinestones
Hot melt glue: 360R-2
Printing: 5 times on backpack area
This layer is specially designed for rhinestone (hot-fix stone) attachment.
Step 7 – Final Baking and Rhinestone Heat Press
Oven: 100°C for 20 minutes
Heat press: 170°C for 20 seconds
After curing, rhinestones are heat pressed onto the backpack area through the heat-melt silicone layer.
Final Result
The final Four-Color Silicone Ink print achieves:
- Real high-build silicone thickness
- Precise four-color character detail
- Gloss effect on shoes
- Strong rhinestone bonding on backpack
